A Commonwealth Court judge has denied the NAACP Pennsylvania conference’s bid to make voting in the presidential election Nov. 3 safer and more accessible during the pandemic.

The leader of Bethlehem’s NAACP says the city’s police chief was right to step down from his post. The move followed controversy over a racist meme Mark Diluzio posted to Facebook last weekend.

Proceedings are scheduled to begin Tuesday in an election lawsuit filed in Commonwealth Court by the Pennsylvania chapter of the NAACP.

Last month, hundreds rallied in Bethlehem, calling for justice and police reform as part of nationwide racial unrest. As WLVR’s Stephen Jiwanmall reports, the City is hoping a new committee leads to meaningful action.
