On Inauguration Day, the U.S. Capitol is traditionally dressed in American flags and red, white and blue bunting. But this year, it’s dressed in razor wire and concrete barricades.

Washington D.C. was quiet over the weekend, as was the Lehigh Valley. But with Wednesday’s Inauguration looming, tensions are still high across the country.

The inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States is going to look vastly different than those of his predecessors, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and heightened security concerns.

Demonstrators intent on protesting at the state Pennsylvania Capitol Complex in the coming days may be met with everything from mounted police to Pennsylvania National Guard troops who are preparing to keep the peace.
