Musikfest is getting rid of paper food and beverage tickets and switching to debit and credit cards for transactions.

Organizers announced this week they are updating the 40-year-old event’s purchasing system.

Artsquest, which puts on Musikfest, says the move may help reduce wait times for lines.  In years past, festival-goers would have to buy tickets to use at food and drink stands.

The festival is also incorporating ApplePay and other touchless options this year.

Cash will still be accepted at the southside location of the festival. On the northside, paper money will need to be exchanged for plastic cash cards that can later be recycled.

Musikfest takes place in Bethlehem from August 6th through the 15th.
