If your child is unvaccinated against COVID-19 and you live in the Allentown School District, you might want to put child-sized masks on your back-to-school checklist.

Listen to the story.

On July 22, the Allentown School District announced its universal masking policy will remain in place for students and staff who are not considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The district’s policy is in line with current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. However, it does not follow recent masking recommendations released by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

The AAP recommends that all students over the age of two and all staff wear masks at school, regardless of their vaccination status.

Allentown’s schools will also require all volunteers and visitors to wear masks if their visit lasts longer than 15 minutes.
