The Lehigh Valley Zoo is hosting an anti-valentines fundraiser that might help you get some closure.
If you’re not feeling the love this Valentine’s Day, that’s okay. For a donation of $5, you can name a cricket after your ex. Then, you can watch a fox, reptile, or other zoo animals eat it in a FaceBook video.
Amanda Shurr, president and chief executive officer at the zoo, says the fundraiser is stirring up a lot of attention.
But don’t worry exes, Shurr says they won’t expose you.
“So we use a first name and maybe a last initial we’re not using full names. Some people were very specific in their names and added a nickname, so we cleaned that up to make sure it’s more content friendly.
“I think last week we had one of our tarantulas and I was like ‘ahhh!!’ But it’s good, it’s a good representation of all the different animals that we have at the zoo,” Shurr says
The zoo is also auctioning off a carcass to be named after your ex and fed to wolves. The bidding starts at $400 and proceeds go to care for the animals.
Shurr says they may repeat this fundraiser next year and explore the possibility of letting people participate in the feedings, too.
