Pennsylvania has averaged 1,000 new coronavirus cases a day for the past two weeks – with more than 1,500 new cases reported today.

State Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine appeared on CNN Tuesday to continue her recent pleas to the public to unite in social distancing and mask wearing.

“We are seeing more patients in Pennsylvania hospitalized than we have seen in a long time – our numbers have doubled over the last month. We have well over 800 people in the hospital. About 10% on a ventilator.”

Levine says the hospitalization rate currently remains lower than it was in the spring.

The state is reporting that over the past two weeks, many people who have tested positive for the virus reported recently being at a business, the majority being – restaurants.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the Commonwealth’s positivity rate qualifies it for a travel advisory to the Empire State. But he isn’t currently adding it to its list of mandated 14-day quarantines.
