Pennsylvania set another one-day record for new coronavirus cases Tuesday, as the fall resurgence appears to be escalating across the state. WLVR News Director Jen Rehill has more.

The state reported more than 2,700 positive cases Tuesday- that’s a nearly 25% jump over the last record-breaking day – which was Friday.

And it’s not the only number headed upward. The state’s percent positivity rate for testing is also climbing – it reached 5% this week – that’s the threshold of concern for health officials.

Hospitalizations are on the rise as well.

In the Lehigh Valley, Northampton and Lehigh counties have seen a combined uptick in cases of about 16% this month. But that’s lower than some other areas of the state, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and its ring counties.
