Lafayette College President Alison Byerly plans to step down in 2021

Alison Byerly, Lafayette College’s 17th president

Lafayette College President Alison Byerly is stepping down when her current contract ends after this school year.

Bylerly joined Lafayette in 2013 when she became the Easton college’s first female leader.

She notified students and faculty of her plans Wednesday morning, after informing the board of trustees of her intention.

Byerly says she plans to spend the first year after her departure as a visiting scholar in English at the University of Pennsylvania.

It’s another change at the top for a Lehigh Valley school.

Last monht, Lehigh University President John Simon annouced he will step down at the end of this academic year.

Both schools are initiating searches for new presidents.
