Pennsylvania’s Republican US Senator, Pat Toomey, confirms he is considering a run for governor.

The Governor’s office is not on the ballot this November. That election takes place in two years.

Senator Pat Toomey has held his current office since 2011.

“So in 2022 my term is up and I going to decide if I’m going to run for reelection. There is an open governor seat, at that point that I have not ruled out the possibility of running for governor. But I also have not ruled out going back to the private sector,” he says.

Toomey says if republicans hold the majority of the senate after the 2020 elections he expects to be chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

As for 2022, Toomey says he will make a decision “relatively soon.”

Senator Toomey was in the area for a forum with business leaders and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
