Federal order protects many Pa. renters from eviction, though legal challenges may arise

Pennsylvania’s ban on evictions ended September 1 – putting thousands at risk of losing their homes. Governor Tom Wolf has since called on the state legislature to extend the eviction moratorium – as nearly 2,000 eviction orders have been filed this month. 

However a new federal order from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may protect renters by halting evictions through the rest of the year, but could also raise legal challenges.
