Whitehall protest planned Monday afternoon to bring attention to January police incident at high school basketball game 

Lehigh Valley social justice activists are planning a protest in Whitehall Monday afternoon. Rodney BE who has been at the heart of recent police reform protests in the Valley. The Black Lives Matter Organizer took to Facebook Live today.

“Police brutality is real. There’s a narrative being painted that that doesn’t happen in the Valley and I’m here to be the first to tell you that’s a bald-faced lie,” he said.

BE says the rally aims to bring attention to an incident at a basketball game at Whitehall High School in January – when police tried to remove a group of mostly black teenage boys from the bleachers. An online video shows a turbulent interaction unfold. A lawsuit filed by the families of two boys involved alleges officers used excessive force.

Be says, he and others plan to stay peaceful

“I’m a warrior,  I’m a king, I’m a soldier, I’m an organizer, I’m a son, I’m a father, I’m a husband – I understand that there are risks in doing this work – don’t be surprised if you see me locked up.”

BE says the rally has attracted the attention of opponents who may plan to protest in support of the police.
