Pennsylvanians who receive SNAP benefits may soon be able to purchase groceries online. The state has entered a federal pilot program to begin testing EBT payments during checkout with participating retailers.

The state department of human services says it expects to roll out the program in June. Delivery fees, driver tips and other charges will not be covered and need to be paid for separately.

The program is expected to help those who cannot physically get to a grocery store, due to physical limitations or transportation issues.
