Thousands of employees have been sickened in food manufacturing facilities in more than 100 facilities in the state. That’s according to news numbers from the department of health. And Governor Tom Wolf says Pennsylvania doesn’t have the capacity to enforce safety guidelines for all business.
On a call with reporters Tuesday, May 5, Wolf said he believes most businesses are adhering to social distancing rules, but there’s no way to check them all.
“There aren’t enough state policemen to oversee every single one, some local law enforcement can do that, but they have the same problem,” said Governor Wolf.
The state has received thousands of complaints about non-compliant businesses since the orders went into effect in mid-April. Wolf is asking people that don’t feel safe to report businesses to local authorities or the state Department of Health.
