More Democrats than Republicans have requested mail-in ballots in PA

By Tyler Pratt & the AP

Monday, May 18 was the last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania’s June 2 primary election.  The state’s delayed spring primary is two weeks from today, May 19. It will feature legislative and congressional races and the first use of newly legalized mail-in ballots. WLVR’s Tyler Pratt has more.

Pennsylanians still have one more week to request their mail-in ballot. That deadline is Tuesday May 26.

The latest figures show more Democrats than Republicans in the state embracing the new vote-by-mail system. 700,000 Democrats have requested mail-in ballots, compared with just more than 300,000 Republicans.

Voting in person is still open — but those voters can expect to see changes related to COVID-19 — including social distancing guidelines and fewer polling places.

State election officials are urging people to check online to see whether their precincts have been moved or consolidated.
