The beauty industry is one part of the local economy that’s been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. A campaign in Easton encourages people to support these businesses by buying gift cards — and now, beer. WLVR’s Stephen Jiwanmall explains.

“The Beauty of Easton” campaign has raised $17,000 so far to support local barbershops, salons and other personal care services.

The Greater Easton Development Partnership organized the campaign. Here’s executive director Jared Mast.

“Salon workers are thought of as you know, a cohort of patrons that really are generous when times are good. So, I think this is all a way of kind of giving back.”

The campaign now has more support behind it. Two Rivers Brewing Company is selling a special Double IPA beer.

Co-owner Troy Reynard says customers can donate $2 or $5 to the campaign.

“We have that natural feeling of ‘we’re all in this together,’ and I think that’s a big difference between Easton and other cities,” said Reynard.

A final boost comes from RMG Insurance, which is matching those donations — up to $5,000.
