State Health Secretary tells residents to postpone routine medical checkups, citing COVID-19 risk

March 3, 2020
State Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine asked people to put regular, non-urgent health care visits on hold during a press briefing Thursday afternoon.
“For routine checkups, whether that’s dental checkups or other medical checkups, we’re asking people not to do that,” said Levine.
Levine says patients who go to a physician’s office for those kinds of visits risk exposure to COVID-19.
Nevertheless, she says patients with chronic conditions, such as kidney disease or uncontrolled hypertension, should still see their doctors, and anyone with a medical emergency should call 911.
