Pennsylvania is reporting more than 200 new coronavirus cases and another death Tuesday. The current total is 851 confirmed cases and seven deaths.

There are a handful of additional cases in the Lehigh Valley — Lehigh County now has 27, and Northampton has 33, with two deaths.

The rise in cases has hospitals, nursing homes and child care centers asking Pennsylvania state government for more money amid a surge of coronavirus-related demands. The Morning Call reported today that Easton Hospital’s owners say the facility needs $41-million dollars from the state or close on April first.

In her daily briefing with reporters this afternoon, State Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said state officials are working that situation now.

We are having discussions at the highest levels of the administration about the Easton hospital situation and how we might be able to help that hospital stay open, especially during these very challenging times.

Levine did not share additional details about what that help might look like.
