Nazareth Stocks Little Libraries with Food During Coronavirus Pandemic

Communities around the Lehigh Valley have started adding something new to the little library stands in their neighborhoods.

WLVR’s Stephen Jiwanmall explains how neighbors in Nazareth Borough are helping each other.

Lori Bernardo is the president of the Nazareth Economic Development Commission. Together with The Nazareth Times, they started bringing non-perishable food to the free little libraries in town.

Bernardo says the concept is simple. Take what you need. Give what you can.

“People need our help, so this is one way we can help. Right now, the Nazareth Area Food Bank is kind of shut down until April 3rd, so I know that there’s all kinds of limitations,” said Bernardo.

There’s one box at Nazareth Circle and another outside borough chambers. Bernardo says the initiative keeps growing.

“It just makes me feel like we’re going to get through this, because everywhere I look, somebody is coming up with a great idea to help someone else,” said Bernardo.
