Lehigh Valley business leader says governor’s closure order could cause hardships

March 18, 2020

Lehigh Valley Public Media is dedicated to bringing you the latest local information on the Coronavirus. Each afternoon we are welcoming medical professionals and community members to weigh in on the situation during our ‘Community Update on Coronavirus.’

WLVR’s Brittany Sweeney hosted Tuesday’s show discussing the business impact in the Lehigh Valley and filed this report.

Pennsylvania’s Governor has asked all non-essential businesses to close statewide for 14 days.

Frank Facchiano of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce addressed how small businesses should navigate the closure.

He says small business is the backbone of the Lehigh Valley.

“They’re certainly not all created equal and some will be able to get through the two-week closure and drive on and it’s going to be a real hardship for others and if it lasts longer than that we are going to be in deep,” said Facchiano.

Facchiano adds that local and the federal government are working together to come up with ways to help out employers and employees in this critical time.

Today’s guests on Community Update on Coronavirus will include Dr. Ashleigh Anderson, vice president and medical director of KidsPeace’s residential and community-based treatment programs. Watch the episode at WLVR.org/community.

WLVR will air Community Update on Coronavirus weekdays at 3 PM. You can either watch live on the PBS39 tv channel or on our WLVR News Facebook Page.
