Pennsylvania is joining much of the nation in putting significant  “social distancing” measures in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

WLVR’s Jen Rehill reports on Governor Tom Wolf’s plan for the state — starting today.

Governor Wolf is strongly discouraging people from attending large gatherings over 250 people — as well as going to places like gyms and movie theaters. Religious leaders are encouraged to cancel services.

These actions may seem severe, but they’re far less draconian than what we may have to do in the future, if we don’t act now,” Wolf said.

The plan is statewide, but the Governor ordered all schools, community centers, gyms and entertainment venues to close in Montgomery County, which has the state’s largest number of coronavirus cases.

“We all need to work together to halt the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Wolf explained. “So I’m urging all my fellow Pennsylvanians: Do your part.”

Wolf said businesses and facilities that provide essential services — like health care centers and gas stations will remain open in the county.
