Lehigh Valley colleges are encouraging students to review travel advisories and maybe reconsider plans for spring break in the wake of the international coronavirus outbreak.

In Allentown, Muhlenberg College starts its spring break this Saturday. The dean of students and the health center director are communicating with students via email.

Muhlenberg’s Emergency Preparedness Committee is also monitoring developments around the virus, coordinating resources and in close contact with the Allentown Health Bureau. The health center is also screening recent international travelers.

Spring break starts March 9th at Lehigh University. A spokeswoman says communication with students is evolving, and the health and wellness team is in close contact with the CDC, state health officials and the Bethlehem Health Bureau. The administration is evaluating concerns about students being able to return home from spring break if advisories change.
